Through its global network of subsidiaries and affiliates, Kingston has manufacturing facilities in California, Taiwan, China and sales representatives in the United States, Canada, Europe, Russia, Turkey, Ukraine, Australia, New Zealand, India, Taiwan, China, and Latin America. Kingston designs, manufactures and distributes memory products for desktops, laptops, servers, printers, and Flash memory products for PDAs, mobile phones, digital cameras, and MP3 players. is the world’s largest independent manufacturer of memory products. Manufacturers like Kingston are well aware of this fact so they haven't stopped introducing new SATA III SSD models in the market like the enterprise-class SSDNow DC400 480GB which we'll be testing today. Still SATA based SSDs will probably hold the largest market share for at least a few more years since unlike M.2 models they can be used in pretty much any SATA compatible desktop and laptop system even models that date as far back as when the SATA II standard was first introduced in 2004. The Kingston 2.5" SSD I'm trying to install doesn't appear it is connected to one of the (brown) SATA 3G ports.ĮDIT: i realized that my m.2 and 1tb HDD are connected to the yellow ports on my motherboard so what i have done is swap the m.2 to the brown port and plug the SSD into the yellow port, i have just booted back into windows with the same results, i managed to document everything with screenshots so i will post them now. With the new PCIe M.2 NVMe SSD solutions stealing the spotlight lately due to their surprisingly faster speeds (up to 4 times faster) compared to regular SATA models (we all know that the SATA III standard has been maxed out for years) most enthusiasts and professionals seem to turn towards the first in order to cover their needs. My friend said I had to set the drive to a slave drive, but I cannot find that in the BIOS of my motherboard, an Asus - H81M-K.ĮDIT: Yes, it shows an SSD, but I forgot to mention I already have a M.2 SSD which is plugged into a SSD-to-SATA adapter, connected to the other yellow 6G SATA port. diskpart in the console doesn't show the Kingston drive. It shows in Device Manager, and when i go into the BIOS Setup. I tried initializing it in the disk management software but it doesn't appear. When I boot into Windows 10 from my 1 TB HDD on one of my two (yellow) 6G SATA-III ports, the new Kingston SSD connected to another, 3G SATA port (brown) does not show in Windows Explorer. I recently bought a new Kingston 120GB 2.5" SSD (SA400S37/120), to add to my motherboard, an Asus - H81M-K Micro ATX ( hardware manual) with two 6G SATA-III ports (yellow) and two 3G SATA ports (dark brown).
